Here, I’ll be blending flavors and stories from Grenada, baking from the heart, and learning as we go. I’ll be sharing the recipes I grew up with, the ones I’ve discovered along the way, and the treats I simply love. My hope? That you’ll learn a little more about baking — just as I continue to grow and learn myself. Together we’ll bring a little more sweetness to the world.
My love for baking started with my mom. Outside of my aunt, she’s hands-down one of the best bakers and cooks I know (and I’m not just saying that because she’s my mom… lol!). Her breads, cakes, and homemade treats are unmatched. I always loved watching her bake and helping her in the kitchen.
Then there’s my aunt — a professional baker whose skills are top tier. Every time I go home to Grenada, I know my favorites will be waiting for me — and that’s part of what I want to share with you.
My true baking journey began a few years ago – when honestly, I wanted to punch a few people — not what you expected me to say, huh?! My mentor encouraged me to try baking a bread — “knead the stress out,” she said. That turned into cinnamon rolls, banana bread, cookies — because let’s be honest, nothing comforts like carbs, right?
From there, I started recreating treats from Grenada and mixed in some of my favorite American sweets. That’s when The Sweet Life with Chrissy began to take shape.
A huge thank you to my mentor, for encouraging me to take this leap. To my mom, for planting the seed. To my aunt, for being my baking lifeline on speed dial. And to my family and friends who’ve eaten their fair share of test batches — I love and appreciate you.
And to you — whether you’re here for the recipes, the inspiration, or simply to support — thank you.
Let’s bake something sweet together.
